Name that Book (Grades 1–5):

Sponsored by Mrs. Jennifer Moore, Librarian

The Travis Elementary Name That Book Team celebrates a love of reading and friendly competition! Open to avid readers in lower and upper grades, this team dives into a wide variety of books—from classics to contemporary favorites—and works together to recall titles based on quotes, clues, and characters. Representing our school in the district-wide competition, team members build strong reading comprehension, memory skills, and teamwork along the way. With every page turned, our Travis Tigers prove that readers truly are leaders!

Robotics (Grades 3–5):

Sponsored by Mr. Johnston, 5th Grade Teacher

The Travis Robotics Club offers students in grades 3, 4, and 5 the challenge (and fun) of learning coding and robotics using the LEGO Spike Prime system.  Students use Spike Prime to code LEGO robots and build attachments to complete a series of challenges in the Robot Game put out by FIRST LEGO Leaugue each year.  Through the ongoing support of the Travis PTA and community, the Robotics Club has nine LEGO robotics kits and is able to purchase the annual FIRST Robot Game challenge kit each year. The Robotics Club meets after school and is taught by Travis teachers and parent volunteers. Students may apply to participate in Introduction to Robotics, a 5-week program, or represent Travis in the FIRST LEGO League, a 6-month commitment for 4th and 5th graders.

Art Club (Grades 5):

Sponsored by Mrs. Stephanie Murillo, Art Teacher

Art Club offers an opportunity for students in 4th and 5th grade to challenge their creativity with more complex art mediums and processes than those studied in class. Young artists have a chance to participate in art contests and competitions with the teacher’s guidance and mentorship in a more intimate setting. Our art club members have extensive roles and responsibilities during our annual art show where they are able to lead and manage art stations for the school community. Art club also allows students with a similar passion for the arts to collaborate, and thus challenge and evolve their creativity.

Student Council (Grades 3–5):
Sponsored by Mrs. Leslie Smith, School Counselor

The Travis Elementary Student Council gives 3rd–5th grade students a voice and a chance to make a difference in our school community! Led by School Counselor Mrs. Leslie Smith, our student leaders work together to plan school spirit events, support campus initiatives, and promote kindness and responsibility throughout the year. Through Student Council, members learn valuable leadership, communication, and teamwork skills while representing their classmates with pride. At Travis, we believe every student can be a leader—and our Student Council helps make that happen!

Cross Country and Track (Grades 4–5):

Sponsored by Mrs. Sara Lytle, Assistant Principal

At Travis Elementary, our Cross Country and Track Team is all about Tiger pride, fitness, and having fun while building confidence through running! Open to all 4th and 5th grade students—no experience needed—our team brings together runners of all levels to grow stronger, work together, and cheer each other on. With once-a-week practices and exciting meets, our student-athletes learn the value of perseverance, teamwork, and school spirit. Whether it's a speedy sprint or a challenging long run, every Travis Tiger gives their best—and we’re proud of every stride they take!

Travis Running Club: Supporting Every Runner’s Growth (Grades 3–5)

Sponsored by Ms. Kristian Borden, SPED Teacher

At Travis Running Club, our mission is to help each student grow as a runner, regardless of their starting point. Runners will learn the fundamentals of long-distance running, including proper form, pacing techniques, building endurance, and increasing stamina.  Our primary focus is on helping students finish strong—developing perseverance and confidence—rather than emphasizing speed. We aim to create a positive, encouraging environment where every runner can improve and enjoy the journey.
