OBOS: One Book One School

OBOS: One Book One School

We will continue our tradition of hosting a One Book, One School (OBOS) project once again this year. We have selected Wishtree by Katherine Applegate for our book this year.

Dates: April 30 – May 15.

Book Delivery: Each Travis family will receive one copy of the book. Books will be distributed to students on Thursday, April 30. For families with more than one student at Travis, the book will be delivered to the oldest sibling. Travis employees that opted to participate will also receive a copy of the book. EVERYONE will be reading the SAME BOOK at the SAME TIME!

Reading Schedule: Use your bookmark, provided with the book, to keep up with the daily readings.

Daily Trivia: Beginning Friday, May 1, students will hear a daily trivia question on the morning announcements. The trivia question will be from the previous day’s reading. Students can complete a trivia slip and have it delivered to the library. Ms. Moore will review the trivia slips each afternoon. She will randomly select correct answers from two students at each grade level. Trivia answers and winners announced the following morning. Winners report to the library for a prize!

Final Raffle: All correct daily trivia responses will be included in the final raffle. The final raffle will have one grand prize winner for Grades K-2 and one grand prize winner for Grades 3-5.

Guesstimate Jar: The library will have themed guesstimate jars, one for Grades K-2 and one for Grades 3-5. Students will have the opportunity to guess how many objects are in the jar during their regular library visit. The student (one for K-2 and one for 3-5) who guesses the closest number without going over the number will receive a special prize.

Travis Wishtree: We will be creating our own Travis Wishtree on the large painted tree outside the MPR. Students will have the opportunity to write their wish on a “ribbon” during their regular library visit. Students will also receive a ribbon bracelet to wear as a reminder of our OBOS book.

Happy Reading! Most important part of OBOS? HAVE FUN!
